Flower Moon Smoothie Bowl

Alright guys– I’m going all in. Remember how last month I got all woo-woo with y’all and talked all about the pink moon via a suuuuuuper extra looking smoothie bowl?

I’m just gonna keep on that train.

Last night Rob asked why this moon is called the “flower moon” and my only answer was that it was because May is full of flowers. That was a good enough answer for me, but he seemed dissatisfied.

He also asked me what it means for a moon to be “in Scorpio” and I truly did not know how to explain it so if and astrology expert wants to drop a comment so I seem like less of an idiot, that would be cool as well.

Here is what I do know/feel:

The full moon has always been a restless time for me, but also a time to re-focus and hone in on my passions, desires, and what has been fueling me. I’m no astrology guru, but I do pay attention to these things. I feel in tune with them. I use them as a tool to look deeper into myself.

While I am not an astrology expert, I could talk to you at some length about Scorpio. It is my sign and I honestly think it tells you just about everything there is to know about me. This is exactly why I’ve been finding such an interesting dichotomy of qualities with the flower moon– representing change, growth, and acceptance, and Scorpio– one of the most stubborn and hot headed of the signs.

Recognizing this has been as especially powerful tool for learning more about my own self and how uncomfortable I have always been with change even when it’s good and/or necessary. Spring is an uncomfortable time for me for this very reason. It’s almost as though there is a part of me that resists an allowance of joy into my life.

I could go on for a much longer time about why that is– but I think I’ll leave the bulk of it for another day. The gist is that it is easier to stay stuck in your ways, even when you know somewhere within yourself that they aren’t serving you. Which is a really timely realization to be having because the full moon is the perfect time to let that shit go! (as I like to say)

So I’ll continue to ponder on that, and I’ll let you ponder on this months beautiful smoothie creation!

It is so light and refreshing, with a delicate floral hint that makes it perfect for this time of year (ahem, flower moon)


  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 raw zucchini
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 1 cup of chilled oolong tea (I used a jasmine rose flavored one and there aren’t enough emojis to describe how I feel about it)
  • 1 pinch of dried lavander
  • 1 tbsp raw honey

Blend it up and top with the prettiest things you can find in the bulk aisle of Whole Foods! (You can usually find flower petals in the beauty section, fyi)

I topped mine with dried rose petals, lavender, and blueberries

Truly– is there any combination on earth more heavenly than lavender and blueberry? I love it. It tastes like May in a bowl and I am beyond satisfied.
